CATIA®, Dassault’s flagship product, is a PLM, i.e. product lifecycle management solution supports the entire product development process, thus allowing users to see the finished product. On the other hand, SolidWorks® is a CAD and CAE software that primarily allows users to design and engineer products. In order to perform CAM with SolidWorks, users need to install third party software like SolidCAM. CATIA is more high-end with its features, and allows users to produce a complete factory when SolidWorks is apt to design a car. Both products coming from Dassault, are immensely robust in working.
